Inside Aerial Fit: Trapeze

We often get questions about our aerial classes, so we’re creating videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in each class we offer. The sixth in the series is Trapeze. Static Trapeze is one of the most classic and oldest of the circus apparatuses. It is familiar to many of us because it shares some similar characteristics with the playground monkey bars, but it is truly a sophisticated apparatus all to its own. Moves can be done below the bar, on the bar, using the bar and the ropes, or above the bar using only the ropes. Practice and playing on the trapeze quickly builds grip strength as well as upper body and core strength. Don’t worry…you don’t need to be able to do a pull-up to get on the bar. We will teach you the techniques of static trapeze, including how to easily get on and off the trapeze, how to hang and do beats from under the bar, how to use the bar and the ropes to support weight and transition smoothly into gorgeous positions, and eventually how to play in the ropes and do exciting momentum moves. We work over thick crash mats

Inside Aerial Fit: Lyra

We often get questions about our aerial classes, so we’re creating videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in each class we offer. The fifth in the series is Aerial Hoop (Lyra). The aerial hoop is a great apparatus for people whose brains like to think in circles and whose bodies love to roll, twist, or spin. Aerial Hoop is often called lyra. It is a steel hoop with a diameter big enough to sit inside comfortably. It can be hung with two ropes or one rope. We focus on the single-point, one rope style. An aerial hoop practice builds upper body and core strength just like all the other apparatuses. Working on the hoop teaches us to use our full body to control and manipulate the hoop. We will teach you the techniques of aerial hoop, including various ways to easily and beautifully get on and off the apparatus, as well as learning how to support and counterbalance the body across the hoop. We work over thick crash mats and a soft gymnastics floor. As a beginner you will work low to the ground learning a variety of movements like rolling, shifting, sliding, and twisting.

Inside Aerial Fit: Aerial Silks

We often get questions about our aerial classes, so we’re creating videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in each class we offer. The fourth in the series is Aerial Silks. Aerial Silks is a discipline that combines strength, flexibility, balance, artistry, and extreme concentration. Made popular by Cirque du Soleil, Aerial Silks have since become popular with people from all walks of life. Beginning an aerial silks practice builds upper body and core strength quickly. You do not need to be able to climb in order to take your first class! We will teach you the techniques of aerial silks, including how to distribute your weight throughout your entire body, how to hang, wrap, climb, spin, and eventually drop on the aerial fabric. We work over thick crash mats and a soft gymnastics floor. As a beginner you will work low to the ground learning a variety of wraps, holds, and hangs. We value longevity so shoulder and core position is emphasized early on. As you progress in your practice you will learn different ways to climb and descend the fabric, as well as a variety of wraps, locks, moves, and eventually drops on the

Inside Aerial Fit: Aerial Slings

We’re hard at work creating a short video series that gives a glimpse inside Aerial Fit. We often get questions about our aerial classes, and these videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in each class we offer. The third in the series is Aerial Slings. Aerial Sling combines the best qualities of aerial silks, aerial hoop, and trapeze and is a great place for beginners to start an aerial practice. Slings are made of the same fabric we use for aerial silks, but both ends are rigged to a single point so there’s a loop at the bottom, which gives you something to sit, hang, swing or spin in! The loop is typically hung at about waist or chest height for beginners, and more advanced students can begin to work higher as interest and ability allows. In your first few classes you can expect to learn different ways to hang, including hanging upside down, and different ways to move and wrap yourself up in the fabric. You can eventually progress to learning small dives, drops, and flips, and putting together beautiful choreography and sequences in the air. Beginners love the sling because there is a

Inside Aerial Fit: Circus Workout

We’re hard at work creating a short video series that gives a glimpse inside Aerial Fit. We often get questions about our aerial classes, and these videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in each class we offer. The second in the series is Circus Workout. Circus Workout is a fun and different way to improve strength and flexibility all with a taste of adventure. This class isn’t just for aerialists, acrobats or physical performers. Anyone can get long-lasting benefits from a circus workout. This workout targets more than the upper body. It’s going to strengthen the full body, legs, core, back and arms. Classes alternate between ground exercises and exercises on the aerial apparatuses. Although every class is different, you can expect to work with aerial silks, trapeze, sling and aerial hoop. You’ll build strength quickly by working with your body weight on and off the ground. There is no aerial or circus experience needed to take your first class. We recommend a weekly practice, either in conjunction with, or without, our other aerial skills focused classes. Please show up at least 10 minutes early for your first class. Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that covers
